According to a 2013 survey by the National Grocers Association, consumers are increasingly concerned about where the food is coming from. In fact, a staggering 85% of American consumers say they choose to where to buy their groceries based on which stores have local, organic produce. Additionally, 45% of American say that they eat locally grown foods three or more times per week.
Since 2013, six restaurants and retailers have opened in Katy order to cater to these very consumers. To be specific, Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Market & Trader Joe’s have all opened in Katy since 2013. These locations have seen overwhelming popularity. Many of these stores premier locally grown foods directly from farmers in Katy, like Oriya Organics or Whole Note Food Company. A fourth organic grocery store, Harvest Natural Market, is plan to open this month on 25600 Westheimer Parkway.
In addition to buying locally, you can also “eat” locally at some of Katy’s leading organic hot spot restaurants. Restaurants like Dish Society or Snap Kitchen in La Centerra at Cinco Ranch pride themselves by having menus that allow the freshness of the food to speak for themselves. Consumers have shown intriguing interest and enforced that they place high value on farm-to-table restaurants.
