Local Huggins Student Sets National Record

Meet Camille Napier, a 5th grader from Huggins Elementary here in Fulshear, TX.

This eleven year old athlete demonstrated her skills recently in the AAU and USATF Indoor Nationals while she was on her Spring Break. Camille traveled to Detroit, MI to compete in the 12 year old bracket for the 1,600 and 3,000 meter races. She was able to pull out victories on both races, and this young athlete was even able to set a new AAU Indoor National Record in the 3,000 meter at 10:48.79.

After Detroit, Camille hit the track again as she traveled to Landover, MD to compete in the 3,000 meter race at the Hershey USATF Indoor Youth Nationals. Although the competition was fierce, Camille took first place while also setting another indoor record of 10:29.52. She beat the previous record by almost 26 seconds!

The Fulshear community is happy to recognize Camille Napier’s hard work and dedication in her passion for running track. Her friends at Huggins Elementary and her family are also very proud of Camille for setting two American youth records!
