According to a survey by GasBuddy, Houstonians paid an average of 3.8 cents less for gasoline during the first week of February than they did the week before across the city’s 2,559 retail fuel stations.
Gasoline prices have continued to decline in 2016, crude oil traded to its lowest price in 13 years during the second week of February. Oil companies have suffered, but drivers have enjoyed some of the lowest fuel prices in years. On Feb. 14, retail gas prices averaged $1.50 per gallon in Houston. The national average was $1.69 per gallon.
Houston’s gasoline is 53 cents per gallon cheaper than the same day last year and 17.2 cents cheaper than it was last month. The national average fell 23 cents over the last month and has fallen 55.5 cents per gallon over the past year.
