HEB Announces Plans to Open 100,000 Sq. Ft. Store in Fulshear

“If you build it, they will come.” Who could forget those now famous words from the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams,” starring a young Kevin Costner and Dennis Quaid.  Fulshear has definitely seen its share of growth. With a 900 percent population increase in the last few years, the once small town of only 400 residents continues to attract developers following the rapidly appearing rooftops.

HEB has announced they acquired almost 28 acres just north of FM 1093 at the northwest corner of Fulshear Bend Drive and FM 1463 where they plan to build a 100,000 square foot center. Although, there is no set timeline for construction, the new store will be located in Cross Creek Ranch.  In anticipation of HEB, the adjoining 20 acres was also purchased for future retail establishments.

HEB has worked closely with the city of Fulshear to meet the city’s goals for quality, guided and sustainable growth. Mayor Tommy Kuykendall commented that “it is exciting to see the commercial areas of Cross Creek Ranch beginning their planned metamorphosis. Having HEB debut as the first major grocer in Fulshear puts an exclamation point on the city’s economic development efforts.”

A project of Houston-based Johnson Development Corporation, Cross Creek was named one of the nation’s 50 best sellers in 2013 and continues to attract residents due to the natural setting, schools, and close proximity to work.

The addition of HEB will add to the tremendous growth that Fulshear has already witnessed and will serve as a catalyst for continued growth.  “The developers of Cross Creek Ranch anticipated this momentum and planned accordingly, with significant acreage reserved for commercial use.” said Rob Bamford, general manager of Cross Creek Ranch.
