Fulshear Police Using Body Cameras

According to a recent Houston Chronicle article, the Fulshear Police Department has started a pilot program to test out body cameras. Many law enforcement agencies are incorporating this new technology into their everyday routines.

Police Chief Kenny Seymour has said that the department has been wanting to use the cameras since the beginning of the 2015 year in an effort to restore public trust and confidence in the professions. There has been much media scrutiny of police behavior, and this technology may be able to shed a positive light behind the routine scenes of a policeman.

Body cameras are able to capture more than a traditional dashboard camera, which will increase police officer accountability for their actions. Not only this, but this new technology would also be able to increase case evidence against criminals and decrease groundless claims of police brutality. Numerous departments in Texas have been using body cameras already, and the Fulshear Police Department will be joining in the ranks of this program.
