Toll Fees to be Raised

Across Harris County, there has been billions of dollars spent on road construction to improve the inter-works that tie the county together.  As a means to pay for this, the Toll Road Authority is going to raise prices for EZ Tag users based upon the Consumer Price Index.  Effective September 12th, EZ tag holders will notice a five cent increase all major tolling points, with the one exception being the Ship Channel Bridge.  Cash rates will not see an increase at that time.  That is because their rates are increased less often than EZ tag users, yet at a higher rate when they do.

Although the increase is just five cents, it will definitely perturb drivers who frequent these major tollways throughout the work week. That small amount does add up though and will upset many of the more frequent users. However, the HCTRA representative, Mary Benton, points out that Tag Users will still be paying less with this increase than those who pay cash.
