Yet another new Master Planned Community is in the works for the City of Katy. It has just been announced that Newland Communities, the same developer of Cinco Ranch, is developing Elyson, a 3,600 acre project located along the Grand Parkway between Katy and Cypress. It will be located just west of the intersection at FM 529 and the Grand Parkway. More than 6,000 new homes, along with some apartments, are to be constructed in the next 10 to 12 years, which will house about 20,000 residents in total.
Elyson’s name pays homage to the families that originally farmed and ranched the land. The community will include numerous neighborhood parks, pools and waterways, similar to the features that you see in Cinco Ranch. Jennifer Taylor of Newland Communities says that it will be similar in terms of the scope and product of Cinco Ranch, but Elyson will have its own personality and features. The community will also have a retail and commercial center along the same lines of LaCenterra.
Homebuilding is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2016 and the first amenity, a large-scale activity center, is set to open then as well. The community will lie primarily within Katy ISD with a small portion in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
